Our flight arrived Tokyo Narita Airport at noon, but it was rainy and windy; cause our first stay in Tokyo wasn't in the city, so we decided to do the city tour later when we moved to the hostel in Asakusa.

Meiji Shrine: feeling the quiet Japanese culture.
After have our easy lunch in the convenient store(backpacker’s best friend! get your meal by coins 24/7, they're everywhere in Japan & Taiwan!), Monsieur L can’t wait to see the Japanese culture, so we went to the Meiji Shrine before we go to check in our place tonight.
Quiet is the first impression for Monsieur L, he felt surprise that everyone were so quiet on the subways and the hostels; just like our first temple in Japan—Meiji Shrine, was quiet and peaceful in such a rainy day. Luckily we saw a ceremony there, the the whole temple began to vibrate when the priest started beat the drum—the sound of Taiko broke silence, the rain drops fallen from the roof, so powerful.
It was time to check in when we have finished the visiting on Meiji Shrine. The weather was pretty warm in Taiwan before we left, didn't expect that Japanese autumn was that chill, and it event worse because the rain; our place was an old budding wasn't warm at all without the heater, so bare to slept on the first night in Japan…

Yokohama: a multicultural harbour with the blinking night.
Motomachi, China Town, Shinko and Landmark Tower.
It was really tough to get rid off blanket in such a chill rainy weather, but we still tried move our asses to the subway station, after we have finished our breakfast, going to our destination of today: Yokohama. We took the subway from Aobadai Station on Tokyu Denentoshi Line, and transferred to Yokohama Line, then arrived Yokohama Station after 40 minutes. My impression of Yokohama were the first city of harbour opened to foreign trade, the multi culture including foreign buildings, and the famous Yokohama China Town!
We got a map from the information in the station, decided to take the Minatomirai Line to Motomachi-Chukagai Station, started our journey from Motomachi at the east, then see the harbour side Yamashita and Shinko on the way back to Yokohama Station. The sky has turns clear when we arrived in Harbor View Park, people were hiking and sketching in beautiful autumn colour. Then we went to Motomachi, this area have lot of foreign building from the world war time, we have walked along the street and seeing those building aside; but mainly they have been used as a museum now, some of them needs entry fees.
Because we haven't ate anything after our ‘coin-breakfast’, it’s time to eat something, so we have a afternoon tea in China town instead of a dinner. The Yokohama China Town was massive, plenty of Chinese restaurant and vendors, we have no idea about what should we eat, but as a budget traveller we could only afforded something cheap, so have tried a noodle place in a small alley and it was nice. Luckily we have seen a parade when we just walked in the China town, how lovely it was!
After the meal, we walked along the harbour side and enjoyed the breeze from the ocean; on the way toward Yokohama Station, we have saw the street market and an old Japanese post ship Hikawamaru near Yamashita Park, and another Japanese ship Nippon Maru near the Yokohama Landmark Tower. We have stayed in Shinko, at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse for the sunset moment, those 19 century buildings now has been used for exhibitions and restaurants.
When the sun has went down… we climbed up to the level 69, the Sky Garden of Yokohama Landmark Tower, for our destination of this tour—the Yokohama night view! It was the first sky building night view experience for Monsieur L, he was surprised at the blinking night view, ’Looks like in a future world!’ he said. Addicted to this brilliant view, couldn’t helped ourself from taking photo; we have spent 2 hours up there(was costed us JPY$1,000, have to make it worth!)… kind of a happy ending, isn't it?
